Post the review meeting chaired by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, state Home Minister Tanaji Sawant on Thursday said that a total of 95 per cent of vaccination has been done in the state and so there is no need to worry about the Covid surge. He said that instructions have been given to all local authorities to conduct review meetings. “A total of 95 percent of vaccination has been done in Maharashtra, no need to panic. Mask is not mandatory…Instructions have been given to all local authorities to conduct review meetings,” said Tanaji Sawant.

Maha to start random tests on int’l fliers to curb BF-7 entry
In view of the threat emerging from the new Covid variant BF. 7, which is wreaking havoc in China and some other countries, Maharashtra government on Thursday decided to take precautionary measures such as random testing on fliers, give a push to the booster dose drive, and set up a new task force of experts. The government has taken a decision to randomly conduct thermal testing on 2% of passengers arriving in the state via international flights since Monday. It also decided to issue an advisory for children and senior citizens in particular to wear mask, avoid visiting crowded places and maintain Covid distancing of 5-10 feet as per earlier norms.
Coronavirus figures of Maharashtra are as follows: Positive cases 81,36,418; fresh cases 20; death toll 1,48,414; recoveries 79,87,870; active cases 134; total tests 8,58,34,010.
As per state health department data, the recovery rate is 98.17 per cent and the fatality rate is 1.82 per cent.
These include 59 active cases in Pune, 35 in Mumbai and seven in Thane
The recovery count increased by 19 and touched 79,87,870, leaving the state with 134 active cases.

Pune led with 12 new cases, followed by six in Mumbai circle, including three in the metropolis, and one each from Akola and Aurangabad circles
